Pacific Northwest 2007 : This was a two-week road trip where we encountered four national parks, one national volcanic monument, beautiful scenery on the Pacific coasts of Oregon and Washington, and lots of other fun stuff. After helping to provide music at a friend's wedding on August 18th, we departed from Grand Rapids, Michigan on the 19th and returned to our home on August 31st. What a trip!

Halls of Fame 2007 : On July 4th, 2007, I, along with my friend Neil Barris, set out on an historic quest: to visit the four major sports Halls of Fame in only three days. We left Wednesday morning, and each had to be home by Friday evening. Another theme explored on this trip was the "President McKinley Death Theme," examined elsewhere on this web site. Improbable? Yes. Impossible? No. Did we succeed? Judge for yourself.

Roadside Stuff : One of the great pleasures in our lives has been the visiting and photographing of roadside attractions and pop-culture landmarks. Here are some highlights. Some of these pictures are poor scans of old pictures, so great photography is not the point here. We've had lots of fun visiting these places over the years, and we hope that you'll enjoy seeing them as well. Since there's no convenient way to organize these pictures, I've organized them alphabetically by city.

Arizona 2006 : From February 27 through March 6, 2006, the Newlons took a week out of their lives to explore the scenic wonders of north-central Arizona. We based ourselves in Sedona, a picturesque community about thirty miles south of Flagstaff. It was a fabulous week that took us to Painted Desert/Petrified Forest National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Meteor Crater, Lowell Observatory, lots of fabulous hiking around Sedona, the Tom Mix Death Site, and other wonderful destinations. Enjoy!

Southwest Utah 2004 : These are photos from our vacation to St. George, Utah in February of 2004. There are a wealth of photographic oppurtunites in the region. This is a unique corner of the world. Every turn of the corner yields yet more breathtaking scenery, constantly surprising and always delightful. Some of the places shown here are Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park (Utah), and Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

Scandinavia 2005 : From July 3 through July 18, 2005, twelve men of Con Spirito!, sixteen women of Renaissance Voices, one conductor, and six guests toured Norway, Sweden and Denmark in an awesome tapestry of beautiful music, drinking (for some of us), and friendship. For two weeks, the singers of Renaissance Voices and Con Spirito! enjoyed the camaraderie and intense kinship that only singing together can provide. We explored centuries-old churches and castles, gazed in wonder at magnificent scenery, and left our musical mark upon these places as well as on our own hearts. I hope that these images can somehow relay our splendid experiences in Scandinavia.
